Business feature: Temp agency connects employers with employees

By Clarence Plank: PNT staff writer

Lexie Myers is the owner of Snelling Staffing Services in Clovis and Portales. She moved to Clovis from Fort Sumner in 1985.

Snelling Staffing places people into a temporary role with an employer.

Myers said times were tough back in the 80s for farmers so her family moved to Clovis.

When her children got to school age and she took care of a few loose ends, Myers stepped back into the work force doing payroll.

Myers is a salesperson for her company. Myers said at Snelling they try to connect employers with employees.

“You want to enjoy what you do in life,” Myers said. “What’s better than finding a guy down on his luck a job…what better job is there then helping someone in need.”

The Snelling Clovis office has been around for a year and a half. The Portales office has been open since January, and recently moved to its new location on 220 South Main in October.

“We help people find jobs,” Myers said. “We’re trying to help an employee find the job they want and get them employed, we’re also helping the employer to find the right employee.”

Snelling does the leg work for employers with drug testing, background and reference checks.

The face of the Portales office is long-time resident, and staffing consultant, Veronica Nunez.

“I just wanted to help people especially (since) the economy has been (slow),” Nunez said. “It just makes me feel like I’m helping.”
