According to the Portales News-Tribune, a vicious storm slammed New Mexico’s east side today, reaching near-blizzard proportions on the eastern plains near the Texas state line. Temperatures plummeted to near-zero readings at mid-morning today, snow of four to six inches piled up in drifts and slicked highways, and icy winds of 30 miles per hour racked the storm struck area.
