Last outing: The Greyhounds edged Abilene Christian 74-71 at Abilene on Tuesday. Kingsville handed West Texas A&M a last-second 64-62 loss at home on Wednesday.
Notes: The Hounds won the earlier meeting at Kingsville 72-62 on Jan. 16, putting four players in double figures and holding the Javelinas to 35 percent FG shooting. It was the first of only three home losses for the Javs this season. However, they have struggled to a 2-10 road mark. … Coming off consecutive 0-12 South campaigns, the Hounds could tie for fourth in the division with a win today and a loss by WT (5-6) at home to Abilene Christian. The Buffaloes, though, have already clinched an LSC tournament berth on a tiebreaker. … After getting off to a 10-2 start, the Javs had dropped 11 of 13 before Wednesday’s win. They are trying to salvage a seventh consecutive winning season today. … Kingsville coach Pete Peterson will be seeking his 200th win at the school. He is 199-160 in 13 seasons. … Four players average in double figures for the Javs, led by 6-5 senior F Flavio Milam and 5-9 junior PG Antwan Mullins, both at 12.0 ppg. Milam leads the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg), while Mullins has 91 assists and 56 steals.

Last outing: The Zias lost at Abilene Christian 75-59 on Tuesday. Kingsville suffered its first home loss of the season on Wednesday, falling to sixth-ranked West Texas A&M 81-59.
Notes: The Javelinas went 12-1 at home in 2009-10. They are 4-7 on the road (2-0 on neutral courts). … Kingsville beat the Zias 77-61 at home behind 22 points, 10 rebounds and four steals from senior G Dyana Bullinger. The Zias got 13 points and 12 caroms in that one from junior F Til-Lois Fifer. … The Javs are tied for third with Abilene Christian, but could lose one of the South’s four LSC tournament berths on a tiebreaker if the Zias beat them and fifth-place Angelo State (5-6) can get past Tarleton State. … Scoring leaders for Kingsville are 5-8 senior G Felicia Soza (15.6 ppg) and 5-5 senior PG Kayla Naylor (11.8), who also has 107 assists for the season. Bullinger averages 9.6 ppg. …
