Storm spotters needed

Free Storm Spotters’ training sessions in Clovis and Portales on Tuesday.

The Clovis session is 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Clovis City Hall .

The Portales session is 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Memorial Building, 300 E. 7th.

Call 763-9485 to sign up for the Clovis session and 356-4404, ext.
202 for the Portales session.

On this day in 2005, John Paul II, history’s most well-traveled pope and the first non-Italian to hold the position since the 16th century, died at his home in the Vatican.

Six days later, two million people packed Vatican City for his funeral, said to be the biggest funeral in history.
