Choir news

The Portales Junior High School choir, under the direction of Franklin Smith, traveled to Hobbs recently for Southeastern New Mexico Music Educators of America Choral — Large Group Festival.

There were two ensembles, a treble choir and a mixed choir, competing at the event.

The mixed choir received excellent marks from the judges in both their performance and sight-singing competition. The treble choir received an excellent mark in sight-singing and received a superior in performance.

MESA

Math, Engineering and Science Achievement sponsor Shareen King reports the junior high and high school MESA teams will be traveling Thursday to Lubbock to experience the Science Spectrum.

While there, the teams will take a brief tour of the Prehistoric Beasts exhibit, followed by exploring the Wild Ocean in the Omnimax Theatre.

This is the last trip for the MESA team this year.

Yearbooks

There are only a limited number of yearbooks left.

The cost is $30 until May 15, after which the remaining copies will be $35.
