Ticket feature: Comedy tour putting on Mother’s Day show

Friday night’s Small Town Comedy Tour show is expected to be a show to bring in Mother’s Day.

Headliner Nikki Carr is billed as the “mother of all mothers,” said promoter Dwayne Robinson.

Carr entered into comedy in an effort to get on TV after her children were kidnapped by their father and taken to Jamaica, Robinson said.

Carr was successful in finding her place in the spotlight and in getting her children back, he said, explaining she has been featured on Comic View, BET, Def Comedy Jam and Comedy Central.

“She’s coming to do a good show for all our mothers,” he said.

Carr will be joined by comedians Cory Fernandez and Honest John.

John, a former nurse, has spent 10 years in comedy, staring in HBO specials, Comic View and Comedy Central.

And Fernandez, a New Yorker who has a role in the upcoming 2010 comedy A Couple of Dicks, has been described as a rising star in the comedy world.

Robinson said Friday’s show, expected to last more than two hours, will be a relaxed atmosphere with table seating, a concession bar and snacks.

“Start Mother’s Day off right on Friday and come on out and treat your mom or your wife to an extra gift,” he said.

Advance tickets are $25, $35 at the door, at 8 p.m. at the Civic Center.

Tickets can be purchased at the Civic Center, Cannon Air Force Base’s ITT office or by calling Robinson at 693-9637.
