The annual Pioneer Days Parade is just around the corner — June 5.

Community organizations and business are being encouraged to be parade participants this year.

Did you know?

Floyd had 78 people in 2000, according to the census that year.

In the population 15 years old and older, 67.6 percent were married.

For people at least 25 years old, 75.4 percent had a high school diploma or higher education.

Among those employed, 46.2 percent worked in the educational, health and social services industry.

Today in history

Horror writer Bram Stoker’s classic vampire tale, Dracula, is first offered for sale in London on this day in 1897.

Through fictional journal entries and letters written by the novel’s principal characters, Dracula tells the story of a Transylvanian vampire and his English victims.
