Lawyer indicted on trafficking charges

A Roosevelt County grand jury indicted a local lawyer July 16 on felony drug trafficking charges, according to a news release issued Thursday by the Roosevelt County Sheriff.

Nettie M. Griffin, 50, is charged with two counts of trafficking controlled substances, a third-degree felony.

Police said the indictment stems from an investigation that began in May.

Police said deputies from Roosevelt and Curry counties and Clovis police officers found methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia during of Griffin’s home in June.

Griffin turned herself in at the Roosevelt County Detention Center on Tuesday and is being held on a $20,000 cash-only bond.

Her arraignment is scheduled today in district court.

Several more arrests are pending in the case, according to the release.
