The Xcel Energy Foundation will be presenting the Portales MainStreet Program with a $10,000 Economic Sustainability grant on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00am at the Portales City Hall, 100 West First Street, Portales.

The monies will be used toward the Portales MainStreet Program’s projects and initiatives. The Xcel Energy Foundation offers grant opportunities in four focus areas: Economic Sustainability, Arts and Culture, Education, and Environmental.

The Economic Sustainability grant is centered on people and organizations actively involved in improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods to help create vibrant, livable communities. The Foundation works to assist a healthier, stronger society that is able to provide economic opportunities for all citizens.

Targeted programs support job creation and assist individuals in obtaining employment. Programs funded reflect economic self‐sufficiency with an emphasis on job creation and workforce readiness, community projects designed to promote diversity and improve economic well‐being and quality of life, and programs that make economic self‐sufficiency a viable option for low‐income populations.
