RICHARDSON, TEXAS — Junior outside hitter Kristen Beck (Odessa, Texas/Odessa HS/ Midland) from the Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team, has been selected as the Lone Star Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in last week’s matches against Midwestern State, Cameron and Oklahoma Panhandle State. She shared the honor with Texas Woman’s Katelyn Osborne.
Beck joins senior setter Veronica Valdez-Kent (Canyon, Texas/Canyon HS), who was selected as the Co-Setter of the Week, two weeks ago for her performances against Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce.
Beck posted a team-high 32 kills along with three service aces over that span. Her performance allowed the Zias to win two out of the three matches and sweep back-to-back opponents for the first time since August 2006.
Beck had 12 kills against Midwestern State and followed with 13 kills, a .423 attack percentage and three service aces in the win over Cameron. On Tuesday, Beck added seven kills against Oklahoma Panhandle State.
The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team (10-10) will hit the road this week, for a two-match LSC trip. On Thursday evening, they will visit East Central University and follow with a match at Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.
