Daughters of the American Revolution
The El Portal Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, met Oct. 9 at the Miles Anthropological Museum at ENMU in Portales with Cori Snobble and Pam Wallace as hostesses.
The program was presented by John Montgomery, professor of anthropology at ENMU and director of Blackwater Draw Museum. Miles Museum houses an extensive collection of native American artifacts ENMU purchased from Fred and Gladys Miles of Roswell in 1966.
Snobble presided at the meeting. Carolyn Thompson gave the National Defense report. Carol Nash read the president general’s message about celebrating Constitution Week.
Information about the American History Essay contest ”Memoirs of Paul Revere” is being sent to Curry and Roosevelt county schools. The next meeting will be Nov. 13 in Portales, hosted by Thompson.
The program emphasis will be veterans.
