Today in history
On this day in 1952, the U.S. detonates the world’s first thermonuclear weapon, the hydrogen bomb, on Eniwetok atoll in the Pacific.
The test gave the U.S. a short-lived advantage in the nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union.
Here’s the rest of the story:
Today — Grab a jacket…slight chance of rain showers in the afternoon. Cooler. Highs in the lower to mid 60s
Tonight — Extra blankets…partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain showers. Lows in the mid to upper 30s.
