Samplings of recent calls to Portales-area law enforcement, according to police records:
About 3:15 a.m., a Portales Police officer met with a 24-year-old Portales woman and a 9th Judicial District victim advocate for a report of possible sexual battery.
The victim advocate said she was summoned to Roosevelt General Hospital when the 24-year-old was being treated for a possible drug overdose from an unknown person slipping something into her drink at a party. Because of the woman’s unexplained incoherence, medical staff asked that she consent to a sexual assault examination.
The victim said she went to a party with two female friends and drank two beers, a shot of whiskey and a red drink someone handed her. She said a man she was dancing with tried to kiss her, but she rebuffed him.
The woman said she didn’t remember anything afterward except being in the hospital.
The officer talked to the victim’s friends, who gave him the names of three possible suspects. The sexual assault examination indicated the possibility of sexual battery, and the officer turned the investigation over to a detective.
