Have you ever wondered where your money goes after you purchase a hunting, fishing or trapping license or pay fees for other recreational activities at state parks?
Well I often wondered myself, every time it costs me a lot of money to purchase licenses and recreational fees.
All the money goes toward supporting wildlife in the state you live in, according to New Mexico Game and Fish Public Information Officer Dan Williams. The money pays game wardens and wildlife biologists, covers operation costs for fish hatcheries and funds research, Williams said.
He said the Department of Game and Fish does not receive any taxpayer dollars.
So next time when you looking into getting a license, planning your hiking trip, or just having a picnic in the park, know your money is right back to what you’re enjoying.
