A Portales man has been arrested in connection with three commercial burglaries, police said.

Nasario Maldonado, 28, is charged with three counts of felony burglary, according to a news release Monday from the Portales Police Department.

The burglaries include one at a business in the 600 block of West Second Street reported Nov. 12, another in the 400 block of South Main Street reported Nov. 13 and the third in the 400 block of South Avenue C reported Nov. 15.

Police Deputy Chief Lonnie Berry said police had surveillance videos from the burglaries. Soon after the Nov. 15 burglary, an officer happened upon Maldonado.

Berry said Maldonado was wearing clothes consistent with what surveillance video revealed and had glass on his clothing. The burglar broke glass to get into the business, Berry said.

According to the release, officers executed a search warrant at Maldonado’s residence and found property from the earliest burglary. The investigation led them to another residence, where officers recovered items taken in the second and third burglaries, according to the release.

Berry said more arrests are pending.

Maldonado was arrested Nov. 15.

Monday evening, he remained in Roosevelt County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 surety bond and a $30,000 cash bond.
