Winter storm watch in effect

The National Weather Service has announced a winter storm watch in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.

The NWS office in Albuqueque said the potential exists for three or more inches of snow over southeast New Mexico and six or more inches across higher-altitude terrain in the state.

The snow is expected to begin late Tuesday afternoon or early in the evening as rain or a mix of snow and rain, and north to northeast winds could reach 15-30 miles per hour with gusts of up to 40 miles per hour.
