My turn: Performance brings on tears

Last weekend, I attended Eastern New Mexico University’s production of “Rabbit Hole,” a story about a young couple struggling to regain purpose in their lives after their 4-year-old son dies. Talk about a tear-inspiring story. There was humor splashed in throughout, so that the audience spent the two hours of the play switching back and forth between laughing, sniffling and stunned silence. I give congratulations to the ENMU theater department for once again putting on a delightful performance.

This weekend, there’s a lot of local entertainment happening. The university’s music department will be performing the opera “Mikado” at the ENMU music building Friday through Sunday. Don’t forget to check that out for only $4 to $7 per ticket. It’s a funny story about a girl who is engaged to more than one man and doesn’t know what to do about it.

If you’re a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, don’t forget to check out the tournament going on this weekend at Sports Angle in Clovis. Also, don’t forget the Jordan World Circus happening 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Curry County Events Center in Clovis or the Brooklyn Rider performance happening 7 p.m. Saturday at Marshall Junior High Auditorium in Clovis.
