The city of Portales was re-certified by the Certified Communities Initiative last week, according to a news release.
The city was recognized during the Roosevelt County Community Development corporation meeting.
CCI requires communities to be recertified every three years.
CCI supports New Mexico communities in their efforts to create new jobs, the release said. CCI communities receive contractual funding of up to $5,000 per year for two years for special projects such as workforce studies, grant writers, training and economic development impact studies.
