BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Junior guard Stefan Mirabal for the men and junior forward Precious Herrin for the women were first-team All-Lone Star Conference South Division selections in basketball for the 2010-11 season.

The all-league selections were announced Tuesday during a banquet prior to the start of this week’s LSC men’s and women’s tournaments.

Herrin was also chosen the South women’s co-newcomer of the year, along with sophomore center Kelsey Smith of Abilene Christian. Also representing ENMU on the men’s honorable mention list was junior forward Max Carrier.

Mirabal, from Albuquerque, became the Greyhounds’ first All-LSC South first-teamer since guard Tristan Largent earned the honor following the 2005-06 season. He finished the regular season eighth in the LSC in scoring (14.2 ppg), fourth in 3-point percentage (.414) and second in 3-point field goals per game (2.7).

He had seven games of at least 20 points this season and his eight 3-pointers in a 98-82 win at Abilene Christian tied for the second-most in an LSC game this season. He set a team record with 59 minutes played in ENMU’s 116-111, four-overtime win last month at Angelo State.

Herrin, from Shreveport, La., is the Zias’ first first-teamer since Elizabeth Richards in 2006-07. She had five double-doubles, led the team in scoring 17 times and in rebounding 11 times, and blocked 36 shots while earning South defensive player of the week honors twice.

Carrier led the LSC in rebounding (7.4 rpg) and blocked shots (1.2 bpg). He was 13th in the conference in scoring (13 ppg) and eighth in field goal percentage (.534), and had a league-high five blocks ini a game against Cameron in January.
