Two arrested on jail smuggling charges

PNT Reports

Two men have been arrested for trying to smuggle contraband into Roosevelt County Detention Center, and authorities are looking for a woman in the same case, according to a news release from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the release:

• Justin Husted and Allen Ryen, both 37 and of Portales, were arrested Friday at the Roosevelt County Detention Center and charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to bring contraband into a place of imprisonment, both fourth-degree felonies.

• Deputies are seeking Laurie Purser, 30, with a warrant on fourth-degree felony charges of distribution of marijuana, conspiracy to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to bring contraband into a place of imprisonment.

• The charges came after the sheriff’s office received information about a potential delivery location for the contraband. At that place, deputies found a package with marijuana and cigarette tobacco. An investigation led to an interrogation of Purser, and Husted and Ryen were named as accomplices in the investigation.

• The investigation is ongoing, and no further details were available.

Monday afternoon, both men remained in the detention center on $10,000 cash-only bonds.
