Clovis Kiwanis Club was organized Jan. 2, 1921.
Its first president was Charles Scheurich, who’s political clout helped create Curry County.
Other charter members included Carl Hatch, who became a U.S. Senator, and A.W. Hockenhull, who became New Mexico governor.

Eastern New Mexico University is accepting applications for student Hound Handlers for the 2011-12 school year.
Hound Handlers are responsible for caring for live mascots Vic and Tory during school hours and must attend events with the dogs.
To qualify, applicants must be full-time undergraduate students and commit to the Hound
Handler program for the fall and spring semesters. They must also meet credit hour and GPA requirements.
Application deadline is 3 p.m. March 29.

Einstein’s theories of special and general relativity drastically altered man’s view of the universe, and his work in particle and energy theory helped make possible quantum mechanics and, ultimately, the atomic bomb.
