Good morning. It’s our version of must reading…the Freedom New Mexico Wednesday briefing.

The Single Airmen group at Cannon Air Force Base is volunteering to be the Habit for Humanity construction crew Saturday in Portales.

Habit says not only are the Single Airmen handy around the house, but they’re furnishing their own lunch.

Help a kid

A California fifth-grader has written to Freedom New Mexico asking for help researching the state of New Mexico.

Napa Valley Language Academy student Ingrid O., who didn’t sign her full last name, would like readers to submit magazines, brochures, postcards and/or souvenirs to help with her written and oral report.

Today in history

On this day in 1802, The United States Military Academy — the first military school in the

U.S. — is founded by Congress for the purpose of educating and training young men in the theory and practice of military science.

Located at West Point, N.Y., the academy is often simply known as West Point.
