My turn: ‘Guys and Dolls’ real treat

A great job by the Portales High School students who performed in the “Guys and Dolls” musical. You had me wanting to see the movie again, so I went and rented it, finding out from the video store clerk that half of Portales has been in there looking for the same thing.

I’m going to shamelessly admit I had goosebumps and a lump in my throat every time one of the Tops in Blue singers hit a high note Wednesday night. There was some amazing talent in the show and I feel honored they came to sing for our local communities.

Thank you, U.S. Air Force, for sharing your talents with us and defending our country on a daily basis.

To add even more excitement and fun to my thrilling week, I also got to go with Portales Police officers to their shooting range Thursday afternoon. This may have been one of the highlights of my year, let alone my week.

I just bought my first gun and not only did I get to learn how to shoot it, but I got to shoot other officer firearms as well.

Thanks, Sgt. David Meeks, for making it possible.
