Spring Fling

The 2011 Spring Fling regional juried art show is set for April 1-7 in the Clovis Community College Commons Area, according to information from sponsor Pintores Art League.

The closing reception and awards ceremony is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. April 7.

Basketball

The Portales High School girls basketball team is hosting its first Portales Youth Basketball Tournament from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 2 at PHS.

Entry deadline is Friday and team registration is $125.

Boy and girls from first- through-sixth grade can participate in three age divisions.

Valdez, owned and operated by the Exxon Corporation, runs aground on a reef in Prince William Sound in southern Alaska.

An estimated 11 million gallons of oil eventually spilled into the water.
