Samplings of recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police records:
• Officers were dispatched to a store in the 1800 block of South Avenue I about 10:50 p.m. in reference to a panic alarm.
Upon arrival, two officers checked the doors, which were locked, and saw an employee walk from the back of the store.
Once the doors were unlocked, an officer spoke with two employees, a 20-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, who said they received a call from a man with a Texan accent, saying a bomb was on the premises. They said the man told them to put $1,000 in a bag and take it across the street.
The employees said they pressed the panic alarm and locked the store until police arrived.
Police blocked off an area around the store, checked the property several times and determined there was no bomb.
