A former Dora Consolidated School coach has been charged with having sexual contact with a student athlete, according to the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.
Amber Shaw, 28, is charged with criminal sexual penetration and criminal sexual contact with a minor, both fourth-degree felonies.
Chief Deputy Malin Parker said several years ago, while Shaw was a contract coach in Dora, she had inappropriate relations with one of her female athletes. The student recently came forward, and deputies investigated, Parker said.
Shaw had already left the school and was arrested and bonded out of jail in Lubbock County, Texas, he said.
The criminal complaint was filed in February in Roosevelt County Magistrate Court, according to court records. The case has since been bound over to Ninth Judicial District Court.
Parker said he could not divulge further details to avoid jeopardizing the case.
No contact information was available for Shaw.
