Christine Merrick has been a volunteer since Feb. 23, 2004, with the Community Services Center’s Foster Grandparent Program.
Christine has dedicated herself to making a difference in the future of students.
Merrick tutors students who need assistance with language arts, and math skills. She has had a positive impact on the students she serves. The attention and support that Merrick provides helps the students accomplish the skills necessary to advance to an equal level comparable to mainstream students. Merrick also works with students in a dual language classroom.
She devotes additional hours to the Community Services Center’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program through her visitation services in the nursing home and other program and school activities.
Merrick is always willing to help under any circumstances, and goes above and beyond with any goals she sets for herself. Her dedication makes her a great asset to the Senior Volunteer Programs and very worthy of the Governor’s Volunteer Award.
In April, Christine was nominated for the 13th annual Governor’s Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. On April 15, she attended the Spotlight on Volunteers Award Ceremony with the FGP/RSVP program directors in Albuquerque to receive her award.
The Senior Programs are honored to have Christine Merrick as one of our volunteers, and want to share her accomplishment with our community.
