Aqua aerobics course on tap

Emily Meadows is teaching a morning aqua aerobics course in the Eastern New Mexico University Distance Education and Outreach program this summer.

Meadows said the water is a great alternative for those who suffer from back pain or other ailments, and the resistance provided by the pool will improve cardiovascular endurance as well as muscle tone and flexibility.

The class is set to meet 7-8 a.m. Monday through Thursday from June 6 through July 29 at the ENMU Natatorium.

The cost is $60 for semester. Students should bring a towel and swimsuit.

The class is open to people age 16 and older, but minors must have parental consent. The minimum enrollment is six.

Student’s book gets published

Former Tucumcari High School student and current ENMU student Max Holman published his first book in April and is working on the second of his series.

“Writing the book was the easy part. Getting published was the painstaking process,” Holman said.

Holman’s first book, “The Chronicles of White Raven and the Book of Vanderbolt: The World Of Mage,” was the development of role-playing when he was 9 years old.

Holman said he first began writing down his story in the form of a script when his brother refused to play along.
