Press release: Murder charges filed in district court

Clovis, NM — Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matthew Chandler announced that charges were filed in District Court on May 20, 2011 on Louis Guerra and Desiree Rodriquez in connection with the shooting death of Daniel Perez occurring on April 13, 2011.

Probable cause has been found to charge Louis Guerra with one (1) count of First Degree Murder, two (2) counts of Assault with Intent to Commit a Violent Felony, one (1) count of Shooting at or From a Motor Vehicle, and two (2) counts of Tampering with Evidence.

Probable cause has been found to charge Desiree Rodriquez with one (1) count of Tampering with Evidence and one (1) count of Bringing Contraband into the Curry County Detention Center.

Both matters were scheduled to go before the grand jury on May 20, 2011. Louis Guerra, through counsel, waived the grand jury presentation on his case. As a result of the waiver of the grand jury, charges were filed in District Court.

Desiree Rodriquez’s matter went before the grand jury and the grand jury returned a true bill. Charges were filed in District Court.

Both Louis Guerra and Desiree Rodriquez are being held on bond in the Curry County Detention Center at this time.
