Sumner Lake remains closed indefinitely to boating until further notice due to tests indicating the potential presence of Quagga mussel veligers, or larva, officials said Tuesday.
The New Mexico State Parks Division and the Department of Game and Fish closed the lake Friday.
Officials do not have a timeline for reopening the park, said Jodi McGinnis Porter, public information officer for the state Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.
Sumner Lake State Park will remain open for camping and other recreational activities. Nearby Santa Rosa, Conchas and Ute lakes will remain open.
