Samplings of recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police records:
• About 6:15 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 500 block of East 18th Street to take a report of a stolen porch swing.
A 65-year-old woman said the swing was hanging from the porch at 6:45 a.m., and she noticed it missing at 6:15 p.m. She said it was worth $200.
Nothing else was taken.
• An officer went to the 100 block of West Juniper St. about 8:45 p.m. for a delayed burglary report.
A 36-year-old woman reported items missing. A witness identified a suspect, and a television, DVD player, stereo remote and cell phone were recovered.
The investigation was continuing.
• Officers responded to a report of two people dealing drugs about 1:25 a.m. at a bar in the 1600 block of South Avenue D.
An anonymous caller named a man and a woman, and said they were traveling in a blue Ford F-150.
The officers couldn’t contact the subjects because the bar was full of people, but found the pickup in the parking lot. They waited for the bar to close to see who came to the truck.
When a male and female got into the truck, one officer pulled his patrol car behind it and asked to speak to them. They identified themselves with the names the caller had reported.
The woman said they hadn’t sold drugs and the man’s ex-wife was in the bar and probably made false accusations.
The 32-year-old man gave permission to search the vehicle. In the ash tray, the officer found a small plastic bag with a white powder that appeared to be cocaine. A detective field tested the substance and received a positive result for cocaine.
The woman said now that officers had found the substance, she remembered the man going outside to talk with another man for about 10 minutes. He wouldn’t tell her what they did.
The woman said she and the 32-year-old man were engaged and he told her he’d given up drugs.
Officers arrested the man for possession of a controlled substance. An officer later learned the man was on probation and so would be held without bond.
