Elida Mayor Durward Dixon, 45, has been charged in what Roosevelt County Sheriff’s officials described as a domestic dispute with his girlfriend June 25 at their home.

Dixon, arrested July 2, is charged with false imprisonment, a fourth-degree felony, and four misdemeanors — battery against a household member, interference with communications, negligent use of a deadly weapon and use of a telephone to intimidate.

According to reports, on June 29, the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office met with Dixon’s 24-year-old girlfriend, whose name officials declined to disclose. The woman said she told Dixon she was unhappy and wanted to move out. When she tried to leave, she said Dixon pulled her back in the house and threatened to kill himself.

Dixon, reached at home Friday, declined comment.
