20-year-old charged in Tucumcari homicide

Four suspects are charged in connection with the homicide of a Tucumcari woman, New Mexico State Police said Monday.

Sgt. Tim Johnson said Randall Jones, 20, of Tucumcari was charged Friday with murder in connection to the July 9 homicide of 33-year-old Shirley Pacheco.

Johnson said Jones was also charged with aggravated burglary, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to tamper with evidence.

Johnson said on July 10, Jones was identified by the state police Investigations Bureau agents as a person of interest in the Pacheco homicide.

Jones was arrested and booked into the Quay County Detention Center two days later on a probation violation bench warrant, a charge unrelated to the homicide.

“Jones was still being held at the Quay County Detention Center when he was served with the warrant for murder,” Johnson said in a press release.

Johnson said three additional suspects were also arrested as a result of this investigation:

• Juanita Trujillo, 31, of Tucumcari, charged with conspiracy to tamper with evidence.

• Jennifer Urioste, 39, of Tucumcari, charged with conspiracy to tamper with evidence.

• Orlando Martinez, 21, of Tucumcari, charged with tampering with evidence and conspiracy to tamper with evidence.

This is a developing story and we will update as we gather more information.
