Recent samplings of calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police reports:
• An officer was sent the 500 block of South Avenue A about 8:20 a.m. in reference to a report of an auto burglary.
A 22-year-old woman said someone entered her vehicle and took her purse, which contained several items, from the front seat and two bottles of perfume from the glove compartment.
It appeared the vehicle was left unlocked, and there was no sign of forced entry.
The officer found no evidence, and no suspect information was available.
• About 6:50 p.m., an officer spoke with a 45-year-old woman at Portales Police Department about a stolen vehicle.
The woman said her Mercury was taken from her apartment in the 1300 block of West Ivy Street between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. that day. She identified a possible suspect.
The woman said the suspect had been told by a relative that the Mercury might be for sale. She told the suspect it wasn’t.
The suspect asked if she could spend the night until she found a ride. The vehicle, the keys that were in the house and the suspect were gone when the owner came home from work.
The owner called family members to find out where the suspect lived. One of the relatives checked a possible location of the suspect in Lubbock and saw the vehicle.
Lubbock police were notified.
