I was watching one of my favorite television shows a few nights ago, when one of the actors complained that everyone seemed to be whispering all of a sudden. Everyone had quite a laugh about it, as no one was whispering, the actor was just getting hard of hearing.
I have to admit, I did not find that all that funny. I guess it might have something to do with the fact that my hearing is not like it use to be. There was a time when I could hear any conversation taking place around me, even if it was not intended for me to hear. It made planning surprises for me pretty difficult, as I was likely to hear some conversation about it. Those days are gone.
I recently had a conversation with a friend from across an aisle in a local business. I noticed he was looking at me a little funny when the conversation was over. I didn’t think much about it until my wife later told me what my friend had said. It wasn’t anything like I had heard. Now I understand the funny look I had gotten from him. Why is everyone whispering all of a sudden?
