Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Wednesday briefing.
Calling all tubes
The Zenith Youth Leadership Academy program is under way in Clovis and
Portales and is gearing up for their first team building exercise which
requires massive amounts of cardboard tubes.
If you have tubes —toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls and gift
wrap rolls — you can contribute.
Deliver to United Way office at 12th and Thornton in Clovis or to the Portales Recreation Center at 18th and Avenue I.
There’s a blood drive 10 a.m. today at the Clovis-Carver Public Library.
It’s called Out and About and it’s a tour and behind the scenes look at the Portales Fire Department central station at 10:30 a.m. today.
Open to the public.
Quirky quote of the day
“Never have more children than you have car windows.” — Erma Bombeck
Today in history
On this day in 1945, Pfc. Desmond T. Doss of Lynchburg, Va., is presented the Congressional Medal of Honor for outstanding bravery as a medical corpsman — the first conscientious objector in American history to receive the nation’s highest military award.
Here’s the rest of the story:
Today — Sunny, with a high near 78. Northeast wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Tonight — Mostly clear, with a low around 46. East wind around 5 mph becoming south.
