Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Friday briefing.

Eastern New Mexico University is hosting the musical “Into the

Woods” at 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building.

The musical follows Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of the Beanstalk), Cinderella

and other characters as they enter the woods in search of fulfillment of their wishes.

The Friends of the Library book sale is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Clovis-Carver Public Library.

Scary rodeo fun

There’s a Halloween Bash and Ranch Rodeo at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Curry County Events Center.

Admission $15 at the gate; kids 12 and under are free.

On this day in 1919, Congress passes the Volstead Act over President Woodrow Wilson’s veto.

The Volstead Act provided for the enforcement of the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, also known as the Prohibition Amendment.
