New Mexico State Police report a 66-year-old man from Dalhart, Texas, died Thursday in a single-vehicle accident on I-40, approximately 25 miles west of Tucumcari.
At 8:53 a.m., state police were summoned to a single-vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival to the scene, Robert Walker the driver of the vehicle was located lying off the westbound shoulder of the roadway. An investigation revealed Walker was traveling west on I-40 when he lost control on the wet and icy roadway. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into an embankment, ejecting Walker.

Walker was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash which contributed to his ejection from the vehicle, police said.
