Recent samplings of calls made to Portales law enforcement, according to police reports:
• An officer was dispatched to North Avenue A in reference to larceny. A man told the officer he had ridden his bike to his mother’s house, returning home about 5 p.m. He said he parked his bike against another bike. Both bikes were later gone.
He told the officer he and his family were home all night long and heard nothing unusual.
The officer found bicycle tracks leading away from the front of the house. The man said he had been noticing a lot of alley foot traffic in the late afternoons and nights.
The officer requested a close patrol of the area.
• An officer was patrolling at the intersection of University and South Avenue D when he was approached by a man, who said he wanted to report an attempted breaking and entering. The man said the incident occurred sometime between Oct. 30 and Nov. 9.
He said he did not believe access had been gained to the vehicle, but the driver’s side door handle was bent inward. The officer observed tool marks that were consistent with a screwdriver or similar prying device. The officer photographed the vehicle and damage. The case is inactive pending further information.
