My turn: Saturday set aside for TV

I think I may have come full circle on Saturday mornings.

When I was a kid, I was up earlier on Saturday than I was any other day of the week. If you wanted to watch Roy Rogers, you had to get up early. There was no DVR or TIVO. There was no recording the show to watch it later, you had to get it when it was on.

After Roy, was “Sky King,” then “Rin Tin Tin.” There would be a full morning of shows, then it was time to put your best Roy Rogers clothes on and head out to play.

For the past few Saturdays, I have been watching television. I have to admit some of what I watched was recorded, but most of it was straight from the channel.

I watched shows about pawn shops, auctions, and building motorcycles. I even found an old Roy Rogers movie on and I watched it. It really reminded me of my days as a kid, when Saturdays were busy, but for a different reason.

The TV was a little bigger, but all in all it is just the same. Where did I put my Roy Rogers clothes?
