Samplings of recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police reports:

Saturday, Dec. 10

• At 9:27 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the area of Portales Junior High School in reference to a female subject who was involved in a domestic dispute. A woman was waiting for the officer by some mailboxes and was crying and shaking.

The woman told the officer that her boyfriend had hit and kicked her all over and he had never done that before.

The officer observed the woman’s bottom lip was swollen and bleeding, her shirt was torn and she had bruises and cuts on various parts of her body. She was also pregnant. The woman complained of having a lot of pain in the back of her head.

The boyfriend was arrested for battery against a household member and the woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

• At 1:50 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a convenience store in reference to a stolen beer. The store clerk told the officer man came into the store and walked out with a 30-pack of Budweiser beer. A description of the subject and his vehicle was given out on radio but the subject was not located. Store cameras did not reveal a clear picture of the subject or the license plate number. The case is inactive due to no further information.

Sunday, Dec. 11

• At 7 p.m., an officer was dispatched to West 14th Street in reference to a female subject calling 911. The officer arrived to find a woman waiting on the porch.

The woman told the officer a man had hit her in the neck and strangled her. She said the man was arguing about a stolen computer then started to hit her until she called a friend then he left the residence. She said her friend was present during the incident and called 911.

Her friend told the officer that she was sitting on the couch when three men came in and started arguing with the woman about a computer. She said when the woman told them she didn’t have it, the man jumped up and hit the woman in the face and slammed her against a board and began hitting and kicking her. She said when the woman screamed for a male friend, the other men ran out.

A warrant was obtained for the man’s arrest for aggravated battery.
