Samplings of recent calls made to Portales law enforcement, according to police reports:
• At 9:53 a.m., an officer was dispatched to East Ninth Street in reference to females yelling. The officer made contact with a female, who was crying.
The woman told the officer that her daughter kicked in her front door and attacked her because she fired her daughter from being her caretaker. She said her daughter became unreliable as a caretaker.
She gave the officer her daughter’s address but the officer was unable to make contact.
The woman told officers she notified her daughter she was fired by a text, which made her angry.
A neighbor saw the daughter drive up the street.
The woman went to lock her front door but her daughter kicked it in and put her knee on her chest. The daughter began to hit the woman in the head and chest. When the neighbor began calling the police, the daughter ran to her car and drove away.
The neighbor gave a statement about the incident.
A warrant will be filed for the woman’s arrest for battery.
• At 2:29 a.m., an officer located broken window at a smoke shop. The officer observed someone had thrown a brick through the window. It appeared no one had gained entry into the store.
The owner arrived at the scene and advised the officer that the business had a surveillance camera. The officer also took photographs of the scene.
About 20 minutes prior to this incident, the front door of another smoke shop was shattered by a rock.
A convenience store clerk said he saw a black older model Ford pickup truck in the area with a male subject inside.
