I think it’s a natural part of human nature to like temporarily stepping out of your own shoes and pretending to be someone or something else.
When I was younger, I was always interested in acting and thought it would be fun. I envisioned myself being somewhat good at comedy/slapstick acting (hold the gasps of surprise please).
Since the end of last year, I have been performing in mystery dinner performances at Vines Italian Restaurant and I’ve had a blast doing it. Ironically enough, the character I’ve had the most fun with so far was my character in the Valentine mystery dinner, a country bumpkin serial killer.
I got hilarious and fun audience reactions to my country accent as well a character last weekend, so go figure, my talent lies in twisted characters pretending to be adorably sweet.
Also promising to be fun is the Portales Kiwanis club’s annual chili dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church. Tickets are $7 for adults $4 for children under 12 years old.
Also, don’t forget the Ag Expo on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. The new event arena will be used for the first time.
