ENMU’s Draper gains Division II provisional qualifying mark

EL PASO — Eastern New Mexico University senior Daniel Draper threw the javelin 201 feet, 5 1/4 inches on Saturday for second place in men's javelin at the Texas-El Paso Springtime Classic, provisionally qualifying for NCAA Division II national track competition in May.
A provisional qualification means he could be selected to go if not enough others meet the automatic qualifying standard. Draper, from Moriarty, placed 13th in NCAA Division II national competition in 2011.
ENMU junior Isaiah Samoei, meantime, won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 14 minutes, 53.95 seconds.
Top women's performances for ENMU in the meet included a second in the 5,000 by sophomore Adrienne Montoya in 19:13.41, and fourths by freshmen Beth Blind in the 5,000 (19.34.91) and Breanna Pendleton in hammer throw (143-6).
