Zias drop first of two Hawaii clashes

KANEOHE, Hawaii — Sophomore defender Alexia Cameau scored one goal and assisted on the other Thursday as Hawaii Pacific posted a 2-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico University in the women's soccer season opener for both teams.

Cameau scored late in the first half, pushing a shot from the deep right side into the next past ENMU goalkeeper Kellie Hogan. Cameau then helped give the Sea Warriors an insurance goal finding senior forward Meghan Fuller for a touch goal from just inside the box about 10 minutes into the second half.

The Sea Warriors had the better of it for most of the contest, outshooting the Zias 9-3 in shots on goal and collecting four corner kicks to one for ENMU.

Sophomore Kaiwi Klana made three saves in goal to earn the shutout for the Sea Warriors. Meantime, Hogan stopped seven of nine shots on goal for ENMU.

The Zias complete their season-opening trip to Hawaii on Saturday with a match against BYU-Hawaii, scheduled for an 8 p.m. (MDT) start.
