Angelo State surges in second half to beat Zias

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Lauren Holt posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Angelo State moved closer to .500 for the regular season and Lone Star Conference play with a 54-47 win over Eastern New Mexico Wednesday night.

Haylee Oliver added 15 for the Rambelles (8-10, 5-7 LSC), including a 3-point play to cap off a 14-4 run to start the second half after the visiting Zias had played to an 18-all tie at the break.

The Zias (3-17, 2-10), led by Tara Johnson's 16 points, trailed by as many as 11 with 11:08 left in regulation.

Neisha Peterson, who scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, added six points during a 12-4 run over a 6:31 stretch to make it 43-40 with 4:27 left. But ENMU couldn't capitalize on a pair of ensuing possessions before Holt hit a 3-pointer with 2:00 to play.

The Rambelles finished the game with 8-of-12 shooting from the line.

The Zias return home for a 2 p.m. Saturday tilt with Abilene Christian.
