My Turn: Couldn’t have a better mommy

How do you spell beauty? This isn’t a trick question and yes, I’m a college grad it’s just in my dictionary it’s spelled R-O-S-A-R-I-O. She’s been the prettiest woman I’ve known since I opened my eyes.

I would hope everyone else feels the same way about their mother but I know that’s not always the case and that’s why I’m so fortunate to have a mother who fits the definition.

God couldn’t have blessed me with a better mommy. I’m not spoiled, never felt entitled and she always told me if I wanted something bad enough, I’d figure it out. But this woman has stood by me in my darkest hours when I needed her most.

I never got mad at her for taking a teacher’s side when being disciplined because I knew that meant she cared and shows she wanted me to grow. She’s never made excuses for me but there are a couple of times where she helped me fax last-minute scholarship applications an hour before deadline. She’s a solid rock in my life.

Today’s her birthday and though I wouldn’t dare reveal her age, let’s just say she looks really good, like young enough to be my sister. I love her and she’s sacrificed a lot to give me more than she had. She’s the greatest mommy ever.
