Five injured in two-car crash

Five people were hospitalized Friday afternoon after a two car crash on N.M. 209 north of Ned Houk Park, according to Curry County Undersheriff Wesley Waller.

The injured included Casey Turnbough, 38, Hallie Turnbough, 12, both of Portales, Suzy Powell, 64, Brooke Fleming, 12, and Brittany Fleming, 13, all of Grady. Waller said all were taken to Plains Regional Medical Center and hospitalized with unspecified injuries. Casey Turnbough was later lifeflighted to a Lubbock hospital, he said.

Waller said the crash happened about 3:30 p.m. near N.M. 209 and Curry Road 21. He said the Turnbough vehicle was pulling out of a driveway and collided with the Powell vehicle. The Fleming children were identified as Powell’s grandchildren and were passengers in her Ford Explorer.

Waller said the crash remains under investigation.
