Splendid things happening at Clovis Hilcrest Park Zoo

If you haven’t been to the Clovis Hillcrest Park Zoo lately, you are missing something great going on in our town and for our kids.

For starters, it is being relandscaped and remodeled.

There will be the new entrance, an educational building, picnic area, etc., and sculptures.

Local artist Patsy Delk has painted lifelike metal sculptures of wild animals and reptiles in their natural color. Some of the animals are lifesize.

Zoo Director Vince Romero has placed them throughout the zoo landscape and many are out by the walkways where the kids can touch and climb on them and put their arms around a lifesize Gorilla.

We owe thanks to our Parks and Recreation Director Bill Bizzell and our city commissioners for getting on board with this zoo project.

And thanks to the many individuals and businesses who donated these sculptures.

In closing, there are still items that could be sponsored, including benches, picnic tables, etc., for placement at the zoo.

It is our zoo, so take part and take the family to the zoo. There will be a grand opening hopefully sometime in August.
