Rocking my runway trends in Portales

I have September issues, no really, I do. I’m torn that I’m almost 25 and I haven’t been to New York Fashion Week. I purchase most of fall’s fashion magazines because it’s really the only time of year you need to do it, but turning those pages only makes me feel like I’m seeing stills of what I could be experiencing in real life.

To add insult to injury, New York Fashion Week was created for the media to preview clothing lines months in advance.

I’m not saying reporters from small towns don’t get in, but it’s invite only and even celebrities get turned away. Believe me, it has nothing to do with the exclusivity, just appreciation of the fashion I love.

Sometimes I selfishly feel like I deserve to be there solely off knowledge and not money. But who’s to say I can’t bring the runway to Portales?

I get teased by lots of people here who think I’m crazy for wearing high heels. Well, I have learned my lesson when visiting a dairy or chasing a fire to always keep a pair of sneakers in my trunk, but fashion is one of my favorite forms of expression.

In honor of fashion week and naysayers of my shoes, I will now rock my runway trends for the rest of the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That’s my pledge until I can afford to go. I’ll just make Portales my fashionista world.
